NKTEK

Coverage Across Every Corner of Your Farm

Reinforced concrete and sprawling pastures push standard wireless tech to its limits. That's why HerdTek uses industrial-grade Bluetooth, operating completely independent of your farm network.

A Standalone Infrastructure

Standard Bluetooth drops out after just a few meters inside a barn. That's why the HerdTek ear tag relies on an industrial-grade variant engineered specifically for high signal penetration and maximum range. This allows the system to reliably cover complex barn layouts and expansive pastures alike. The base station captures this data and transmits it autonomously via cellular network.

Engineered for Reliability

5-Year Battery Life

To achieve this lifespan, the sensor avoids continuous transmission. It wakes up just long enough to push its data before instantly dropping back into a power-saving sleep mode.

Dependable Connectivity

Modern barns are tough environments for wireless signals. By utilizing NB-IoT and LTE-M, our base stations reliably penetrate concrete and metal structures, holding a strong connection exactly where standard cellular drops off.

Local Data Buffering

If the cellular connection ever drops, your data stays safe. Both the ear tag and base station buffer up to 30 days of data locally. Once the network is back online, everything syncs automatically.

Real-World Performance

Lab specs don't mean much on a working farm. From day one, we relentlessly stress-tested our network out in the field. In open-pasture trials, our sensors successfully beamed data directly to the cloud from over a kilometer away.

Field-Tested Design

A Perfect Fit for Any Farm

Every farm is built differently. Thick concrete walls and sprawling freestall layouts are notorious for killing wireless signals. We've mapped and tested HerdTek across dozens of unique facilities to guarantee reliable coverage anywhere. The hardware drops right into your current setup. No structural changes or complex rewiring required.

What Impacts Signal Range

We rigorously test our hardware to its absolute limits. But even with industrial-grade tech, certain physical layouts will naturally impact wireless range on any farm.

Structural Barriers

Reinforced concrete walls, thick metal roofs, and heavy steel fixtures naturally dampen radio waves inside the barn.

Pasture Terrain

Out in the fields, rolling hills, deep valleys, or dense tree lines can reduce the maximum transmission distance.

Our Solution

If your layout requires more coverage, simply plug in another base station. The ear tags switch between stations automatically with zero data loss. The entire system is completely plug-and-play.
